THE FRUIT OF JOY
by Pastor James
March 12, 2006
Galatians 5:22

Let's look at the fruit of Joy. In Psalm 16:1, it says in the presence of God is Fullness of
Joy.
See also Psalm 43:4. We know that the Holy Spirit fills us with Joy-We have
righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit-Romans 14:17.

There's a difference between Joy and Happiness. Happiness is based on your
circumstances, Joy is within, from the Holy Spirit. We show joy in several ways: singing,
dancing, laughing, jumping, running, crying, words of praise etc. Let's see some examples
of people whose circumstance wasn't the best, but who decided to praise God anyway
and God intervened: 1 st Samuel 21:10-15, Psalm 34:1, Acts 16:25, 2nd Chronicles
20:21-22 Jonah 2:1,9,10. Job 13:15, James 1:2.

The Fruit of Joy, is God's nature. God is Joy, in him there's no sadness. As someone
said, He never has a bad day. He is forever in control. God gives us the oil of Joy for
mourning-Isaiah 61 :3. This oil represents the Holy Spirit. When Jesus presents us to
God, he does so with exceeding Joy-Jude 24. 0ne of the plans of the enemy is to make us
depressed: Isaiah 61:3, Revelations 16:13-14, Revelations 12:10.

Being Joyful in dire circumstances is not human but supernatural, but that is what gives
us the victory: Nehemiah 8:10, Hebrews 13:15, Acts 5:41,Psalm 8:2, Psalm 47:5-7. When
are we to praise God? Psalm 113: 1-4. When we are joyful in the Lord, then firstly He
shuts up the devil, secondly, dispels the demon of depression and thirdly, gives us
supernatural victory. Philippians 4:4-8. When God redeems us, we are to offer him praise:
Psalm 126, Psalm 107:2

We are to have Joy in Marriage-Proverbs 5:18. Why are we to rejoice: 1) Because it's
God's favor-Proverbs 18:22. 2) Being joyful creates an inner strength of spirit that deals
with issues that come up. It ensures that we are unwavering in our faith, love, and joy in
God. 3) It tells our spouse that we enjoy our relationship and we are happy to be married
to him/her. 3) It creates an atmosphere of Joy in the house that makes everyone feel
loved and content. 4) It tells the world that we are children of God. 5) Ecclesiastes 9:9,
says we should live joyfully with the wife whom we love. To be able to live joyfully with our
with wife, therefore, means we have to love her. Without loving her, we cannot live joyfully
with our wife. There cannot be joy when there's no love. Again love is the underlying fruit
in all the nine fruit. For if we do not love her, she becomes a woman forsaken and grieved
in spirit. Isaiah 54:6-9. Some people believe that you have to "try out" the man or woman
first to see if you love each other. As we have stated before, love is not a gift, but a fruit. It
doesn't matter if the marriage was arranged, or you met at church, provided you are both
saved, then God's favor is in it and the Holy Spirit will make the ground fertile for the
seeds of love to be sown. Though Isaac's marriage was arranged, the Bible says he loved
Rebecca, both in the naturally sense and physically Genesis 24:67.
